Anything As a Service (XaaS)
Anything As a
Service (XaaS)
What is “Anything As a Service” (XaaS)?
Anything as a service (XaaS) includes a wide variety of products, tools and technologies that vendors now deliver to clients over a network through a monthly subscription model. Business owners can pay a monthly fee to a managed service provider to ensure they have solutions that are running at peak performance. This model shifts several capital expenses to operational expenses for your business.
Examples of Anything as a Service (XaaS)
There are numerous examples of XaaS and it seems the list is continuously growing. The most common include: Software as a Service (SaaS), Device as a Service (DaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
Software as a Service
Software as a Service (SaaS) allows users to access cloud-based apps over the Internet at any time. This complete software solution allows organizations to pay-as-you-go from a cloud service provider. Businesses can rent the use of an application for their organization and have their users connect to it over the Internet.
SaaS allows you to access an application quickly at minimal upfront cost to your organization. Dynamic Quest will host the underlying infrastructure, app software and app data within our internal data center and Microsoft Azure.
Hardware as a Service
Hardware as a Service (HaaS) model is like leasing, in which the hardware belongs to Dynamic Quest and is installed at the customer’s site. With an agreed upon service level agreement (SLA) set in place, all responsibilities of both parties are fully detailed. Should a piece of hardware break or become outdated, Dynamic Quest will replace or remediate the issue to ensure all hardware is functioning properly.
Infrastructure as a Service
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a model that can provide hardware, storage, servers and data center space or network components, and occasionally software. Under this model, organizations can avoid the expense of buying and managing their own physical servers and other complex data center infrastructure components. Infrastructure resources can be offered as a separate service component, which enables you to pay for resources as you need.
Benefits of Anything as a Service (XaaS)
Cost Savings. In the as-a-service model, organizations can cut costs and simplify IT tech investments. Incorporating additional cloud services to your tech environment allows organizations to shed pieces of their physical in-house IT infrastructure.
The reduction of equipment leads to fewer servers, hard drives, network switches, software deployments and more. Using a managed service provider’s equipment rather than investing in on-premise equipment turns a capital expense (Capex) to an operational expense (Opex) for your business.
Less on-premise IT. With less IT equipment comes less physical overhead including equipment space, power and cooling. This also means your internal staff will be able to spend less time putting out fires and more time on value-added projects for your business.
Investment in High-Quality Products. Have peace of mind knowing your service provider will manage all of the necessary software updates and upgrades. Utilizing the as-a-service model ensures your hardware is continuously up and running, and is always utilizing the latest in technology.
Security. Security is top-of-mind to business owners. An XaaS provider removes owners from worrying about PCI and data stored on internal devices. You will no longer have to worry about having the latest software updated on your devices or the most recent hardware encryption technology.
